A Bit About Rachel

Jesus Believer. Wife. Mom. Daughter. Freelance Writer. Mompreneur. Friend.

The first three things you'll notice about me when we meet are my curly hair (yes, it's natural), my crooked smile (just born that way), and my inability to talk without using my hands (I did mention I was Italian, right?).
As a young girl I would create my own songs to sing from my swing set and wrote my own stories to read to my stuffed animals and dolls.
Today, I get to help others not only realize their dreams, but also impact a generation for Christ.

Childhood

Born in Florida, but raised in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, I grew up reading books from the local library, swimming in the city pool, watching Little House on the Prairie on the family TV, and eating homemade popsicles on the back porch.

As a kid, I loved Nancy Drew and Harriet the Spy, and kept too many journals to number. As an adult, I have devoured historical fiction, and so many mysteries and romantic suspense novels I probably could become a lawyer, private detective, or FBI agent.

I love music, especially country and big band, which is a true dichotomy. I was raised on Frank and Dean and I love to two-step to Garth and Lady A. Music is a muse for me and my playlists, like the books on my bookshelves, are too numerous to count.

Family

I come from a large Italian family with many aunts, uncles and cousins. My parents have been married to each other for 54 years. It took a while to find an Italian match in Texas, but I eventually met my husband (a New Yorker we shall call Meatball) at his sister's birthday party, where he held my hand for a dance and never let go. I was blessed to become a Mommy to a creative and nature-loving third-grader and a bonus mom to one video game-loving teen. Our blended family loves football, all things Walt Disney World, playing board games, and homemade sauce on Sunday.

Career

I attended Texas Christian University, but graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington, and while earning my degree, I held titles like concert emcee, special events manager, radio promotions assistant, back-up singer, and waitress.

After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree, I spent most of my time focused on teaching journalism and photography to middle schoolers and high schoolers.

Then, after a tough family loss, I found my calling. Launching Little Lamb Books has been both a labor of love and a true joy. I LOVE reading picture books ... and reading chapter books ... and reading young adult novels ... and reading, well, you get the idea.

Now, I spend my days writing company content, editing manuscripts, directing art design, reviewing proposals, creating marketing strategies, and developing platforms.

Pet Peeves

Rude people, drivers who don't use their blinkers, liars, noisy eaters, interruptions while reading, and talking during a movie. Oh, and gum smackers-bleh!
